Why do we have a PTA?
Our PTA is an integral part of our school community. Over the years we have raised thousands of pounds to help with extra projects that would otherwise be unaffordable. But our work is much more than simply fundraising! We provide closer links between home and school, and we bring staff, parents and friends together socially to have some fun and to support our school.
All parents and members of the school community are encouraged to get involved and families are automatically members of the PTA when their child joins our school.
Role of the committee
The PTA is a committed group of parents and teachers who work together on a voluntary basis to support the school, using all the different skills that each member brings. Members…
If you are interested in joining the committee or would like to find out more then we’d love to hear from you! Please email pta@standrewspta.co.uk and we’ll be in touch.
Parent volunteers – our PTA helpers!
We welcome any help from parents, teachers and friends and have a growing Whatsapp group of volunteers who want to lend a hand to help the PTA as and when they can. Many hands make light work so an hour of your time (or more if you have it!) is so very helpful. Examples of PTA helper activities include selling refreshments at our annual Fireworks event and ice pops on Fridays in the summer and setting up at summer and Christmas fetes.

How we raise money
Like many PTA groups, most of our funds are raised at organised events. Our biggest fundraisers are usually our summer and Christmas fetes/market. Other popular events include family bingo, fireworks night and a school disco for all school children!
Donations from parents are extremely important. You can donate time, money, items for sale, raffle prizes and auction lots or offers of services and skills. You can also raise money for the school for ‘free’ every time you shop online, by using the links on the left of this page.
The Committee
We are currently looking for new a new chair/s and treasurer to take over the committee! Our PTA constitution states that when a chair/s, treasurer, secretary reaches Y6, they step down and remain on the committee to help shadow new comers, ensuring a smooth handover.
Please email pta@standrewspta.co.uk if you are interested in/finding out more about these roles.
As always, we are keen for every year group to be represented on the committee and look forward to hopefully welcoming new reception members to the team this year!
The AGM will be held in the New Year where the officers will be elected.
How we keep you up to date
The PTA regularly communicates news and information with parents by:
PTA information is usually about upcoming activities and events, and any extra help that we may need. Following an event, we always let you know how much was raised and how money is spent.
Class representatives
Our class representatives (class reps) play an important role, providing a link between individual classes/parents, and the PTA committee and teachers. The support from class reps is vital when it comes to organising our main events, from selling tickets to organising rotas of help. Class reps also help communicate PTA information to year groups via Facebook and Whatsapp group channels. We really cannot manage without them.
Annual General Meeting (AGM)
Our AGM provides an excellent opportunity for all parents to come along and hear in more detail about our work, the events we have run, the funds we have raised and how the money has been spent. It is also when we elect our new committee members.
Interested in joining?
If you are interested in joining the PTA as a committee member or helper, please contact co-chairs Emma or Suzy by email at pta@standrewspta.co.uk, send a message via our Facebook page or by letting your class rep know. We look forward to meeting you soon and thank you in advance for your support!
